Giddy Goat Cafe & Bar, East Street, Rockhampton

Today I had lunch with my girl friends at the Giddy Goat down the mall.  It's a gorgeous place and the decor is stunning.  The staff were very helpful and the food was fast.  They have a fairly big menu plus two specials and a display cabinet full of yummy things.  Vegetarian wise they are ok.  They have a Bruschetta Pizza, chips, garden salad and they always have a vegetarian muffin in the display cabinet.  I went with the muffin.  It was pretty good.  Had lots of flavour.  None of the vegetarian options are very large so if you are really hungry maybe go somewhere else.  Also they are always really busy from 11:30am - 2pm so make sure you book a table.

Here is a copy of their menu..

Love Treen

Intro

Hi, my name is Treen.  I am 24 and a vegetarian (hello Treen lol).  I feel totally alone being a vegetarian and living in the beef capital of Australia, Rockhampton.
I want to use this blog to bring all us Central Queensland ‘veggies’ together and recommend place to eat and recipes.

I have been vegetarian since I was four.  I don’t exactly remember why I became vegetarian but my mother says it was because I had big tonsils and couldn’t eat hard meat and slowly worked my way off all meats.  I think it was more of a seeking attention in a large family sort of thing.  None of my family are vegetarian, not even my fiancĂ©.  I don’t have a problem cooking meat but the thought of eating it grosses me out and I dry reach (probably too much information).  I am not an animal activist, I am not a hippie, I just have chosen to be an individual and do what my body tells me if right.

I don’t recommend becoming vegetarian to anyone.  My future children will be eating meat and if they say ‘mummy you don’t eat it, why do I have to’, I will be sitting them down and having a long chat about the health implications.  I have to get B12 injections every three months plus iron and calcium (cause I don’t drink milk either) tablets daily.  I live having no energy.  I miss out on a lot due to not having enough energy.  My friends will go out clubbing and I will stay home, I can’t play too much sport, I live a life of limitations.  I would give anything to eat meat and be normal but I just can’t do it.

I am off to lunch with friends so i will upload my first vego blog soon.

Love, Treen
